Mathea Interiors is an interior design studio based in Cagayan de Oro, focused on creating bespoke spaces.

I developed the visual identity system, including the abstract mark and supporting graphic elements. Designed core brand applications and established the typographic and color direction to create a contemporary yet timeless foundation for the studio.

I intentionally stepped away from the expected “interior design” aesthetic. Instead of leaning into polished renders or overtly styled visuals, I wanted to explore texture, materiality, and feeling.

Mathea wanted the brand to feel contemporary, bold, and sincere but also timeless. She was clear about avoiding a typical two-letter monogram, and more importantly, she wanted the identity to feel like her. Not just her work, but her way of thinking.

For the layout system, the compositions are built on strong margins and clear spacing. A lot of negative space is intentional, it gives the work room to breathe and makes everything feel equal.

Typography is kept restrained and carefully aligned. The hierarchy is simple, clear and balanced.

For the main mark, I started with the letter M from Mathea and developed the wave form beneath it as the anchor of the identity. The wave represents movement, process, and how she develops ideas. Over time, that shape evolved into a structural element within the system — acting like the base of a table or the stand of a chair.

There’s also a subtle personal layer in the chair icon. Her mother wanted to incorporate the number 7, referencing her placing Top 7 in her licensure exam. Instead of adding a literal number into the logo, I embedded the shape of a 7 into the structure of the chair itself.

There’s a slight hand-drawn quality and circular framing that adds personality without making it look retro. The beige and burgundy palette was also intentional. Grounded, and warm. The identity leans into materials, warmth, and structure.
